You need to pre-create 1 Linux instance in a public subnet and 1 Windows instance in a private subnet to perform this lab.

To use Systems Manager to manage our Windows instance in particular and our instances in general on AWS, we need to grant permissions for our instances to work with Systems Manager. In this preparation section, we will also proceed to create an IAM Role to grant permissions for the instances to work with Systems Manager.
